The Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Enhancing Pedagogical Frameworks and Industry Alignment in Polygraphy Education

Abstract
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an essential component of higher education by transforming instructional practices and strengthening the alignment between academic programs and industry demands. This study explored the role of ICT in enhancing pedagogical frameworks and industry alignment in polygraphy education. Specifically, it examined participants' experiences in using ICT for teaching and learning, its influence on pedagogical practices, learner engagement, and competency development, and identified recommendations for improving ICT integration to better prepare students for professional practice. The study employed a qualitative Interpretive Description research design. Using purposive sampling, 16 participants consisting of 10 criminology students, 3 polygraphy instructors, and 3 industry practitioners were selected based on their direct involvement in polygraphy education and ICT-supported instructional practices. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis. Six major themes emerged from the analysis: (1) ICT as a Tool for Interactive and Effective Instructional Delivery, (2) ICT as a Platform for Accessible Learning Resources and Collaborative Learning, (3) ICT Promotes Innovative Pedagogical Practices, (4) ICT Enhances Learner Engagement and Professional Competency Development, (5) Expanding ICT Infrastructure and Digital Learning Resources, and (6) Strengthening Industry Collaboration through ICT Integration. The findings revealed that ICT significantly improves instructional effectiveness, enriches learning experiences, supports competency development, and strengthens collaboration between educational institutions and industry practitioners. Participants emphasized the importance of continued investment in digital infrastructure, faculty capability development, technology-enhanced instructional strategies, and sustainable industry partnerships to ensure that polygraphy education remains responsive to technological advancements and evolving professional standards. The study concludes that effective ICT integration plays a vital role in enhancing pedagogical quality and preparing future polygraph professionals for the demands of the contemporary workplace..
