Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a crucial role in optimizing agricultural productivity and sustainability across Africa. This study explores AI applications in precision farming, crop disease prediction, and climate resilience strategies. The research presents case studies from South Africa and Senegal, where AI-powered drones and smart irrigation systems have improved yield forecasts and resource management. Findings indicate that while AI adoption enhances agricultural efficiency, barriers such as lack of technical expertise, inadequate internet infrastructure, and high implementation costs hinder widespread adoption. The paper suggests policy recommendations to promote AI-driven smart farming across the continent.
