Metaphor Usage in Political Discourse: A Corpus Analysis
Main Article Content
Abstract
When it comes to political speech and public perception, metaphors are powerful cognitive tools. Politicians and policymakers are able to express nuanced ideas, define problems, and evoke strong feelings via their use of them. Here, we use corpus analysis as a prism to systematically investigate metaphor usage in political speech. Political discourse fosters the
development and spread of metaphors, since language assumes a powerful role in influencing opinions and establishing agendas. These metaphors have a significant influence on people's understanding and interpretation of political situations, going beyond simple language
embellishment and the world of concepts.
