Abstract

Myocardial Infarction (MI) continues to be one of the major causes of deaths worldwide, hence the necessity of developing an early and precise way of diagnosing MI to increase the survival rate of patients and reduce cardiovascular comorbidities. Echocardiography has proven to be an efficient technique for examining the morphology of the heart, ventricular functions, myocardium damage and assessing wall motion abnormalities. Unfortunately, interpretation of existing echocardiography is affected by the operator dependency, poor quality of images, inter-observer variability and difficulties in identifying minor changes in the functions of the myocardium at the early stages of MI. This survey provides 20 recently published articles from 2024 to 2026 on the topic of echocardiographic imaging, cardiac motion and ventricular function analysis and multiview echocardiographic evaluation of early myocardial infarction. These articles discuss recent developments in the automated image analysis, segmentation, wall motion evaluation, multiview feature integration and clinical decision-making. It is concluded that the incorporation of advanced computing techniques with echocardiography greatly improves the diagnostic performance and the need for developing multimodal and explainable diagnostic method in the future.
