Swachh Bharat Mission: Its Economic Impact
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Government of India initiated the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014, which is a programme aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene across the whole country. In 2019, the year that marks the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, the objective of this campaign is to realise the vision of "Clean India" by that date. The cleanliness drive known as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has had a considerable effect on the economy. There has been a decrease in the number of diseases that have been reported as a consequence of improvements in cleanliness and hygiene, which has led to an increase in productivity and a reduction in the expenses of healthcare. Furthermore, the campaign has resulted in the creation of new employment possibilities within the sanitation sector, which has contributed to the expansion and development of the economy.
