Abstract

Institutional quality assurance has become a fundamental mechanism for promoting instructional accountability while shaping teachers' psychological readiness and professional practice. This qualitative exploratory inquiry examined how institutional quality assurance functions as a catalyst for teachers' psychological preparedness and instructional functioning in public educational institutions. Thirty licensed teachers from Western Mindanao, Philippines, who had direct experience with quality assurance processes, participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis to identify recurrent patterns across participants' experiences. The findings revealed that documentation requirements, classroom observations, performance evaluations, and inconsistent implementation of standards frequently generated psychological strain, divided cognitive attention, emotional depletion, and reduced instructional spontaneity. Conversely, structured institutional systems, transparent expectations, mentoring, collaborative feedback, and standardized quality assurance procedures strengthened teachers' confidence, emotional stability, organizational competence, and instructional preparedness. Participants also developed adaptive workload management strategies, including systematic planning, task segmentation, and personalized organizational routines, to preserve instructional effectiveness while addressing compliance obligations. Interpreted through the Job Demands-Resources Theory, Cognitive Load Theory, and Self-Determination Theory, the findings demonstrate that institutional quality assurance simultaneously functions as a source of professional demands and organizational resources. The inquiry concludes that quality assurance achieves greater educational value when implemented through consistent, supportive, and developmental institutional practices that reinforce teachers' psychological preparedness while sustaining effective instructional functioning and long-term professional well-being...
